Considering Digital Public Space: a report

29th Jul 2015

In June 2015, a symposium hosted by The Creative Exchange brought together leading figures around the debate on digital democracy in London at the Digital Catapult Centre.

The event considered the meaning of Digital Public Space, its agenda to date, its impact and possible future directions.

Delegates included representatives from the BBC, The British Library, The Wellcome Trust, Wikimedia and the Open Data Institute.

The questions considered were varied:

  • How should we define this Digital Public Space?
  • What are its parameters?
  • How can it be developed?

  • How can its content be accessed and reused?
  • Who should police it?
  • Whose interests are to be protected?

Jeremy Myerson, CI of the Creative Exchange for the Royal College of Art, has written up the conclusions from the event in this paper, Considering Digital Public Space.
